Warrnambool export Marc Leishman in major contention after US Open round two action

WARRNAMBOOL export Marc Leishman is in contention at the US Open as high-profile names failed to make the cut after round two.

Leishman is tied for 13th at four-under – just three shots behind the leaders.

He shot an even par 72 to remain the only Australian left in the field.

Fellow Australians Jason Day and Adam Scott were cut along with American Dustin Johnson and Northern Irishman Rory McIllroy – the number one and two ranked players in the world.

Four players – Paul Casey, Brian Harman, Tommy Fleetwood and Brooks Koepka – are tied for first at seven-under par.
