Moyne Shire councillor Jordan Lockett and local families marked the occasion with a cake and lollies this month.
The shire spent $50,000 installing the Elizabeth Street playground following a survey of residents living in surrounding streets in August.
Moyne Shire recreation and community development manager Jacquie Anderton said the playground was designed in response to the survey and included a slide, climbing net, swings and a rocking see-saw.
The works replaced an existing outdated playground and residents identified including a basketball ring and backboard at the park as key priorities.
Great grandmother and regular park visitor Kaye Sharp was chosen to cut the cake as she is often there with her grandchildren.
Ms Sharp said her younger grandchildren played on the equipment, while the older children enjoyed shooting hoops.
