The meeting, held in Melbourne on Wednesday, included Education Minister James Merlino, Western Victoria MP James Purcell and school vice-president Elaine Knowles.
Mr Purcell said the minister confirmed developing a new WSDS was a priority that the government was working towards making a reality.
"They are currently working with the WSDS to put strategies in place to ensure the project is shovel-ready for the next budget process,” Mr Purcell said.
"There was also discussion around short-term measures to alleviate the crowding situation and provide more support in the interim."
Mr Merlino said Mr Purcell, who set up the meeting, had made the school’s needs clear.
"We have purchased the land for the new site and we will continue to finalise the documentation for the new buildings over coming months,” Mr Merlino said.
The school community was disappointed after it failed to receive funding for a new school in the May 2 budget, and a public meeting was set up. However, the meeting was postponed in mid-May.
Mrs Knowles thanked the politicians for setting up the meeting, which she described as positive, and said school council still had to meet and discuss how to proceed.
