The Magpies will welcome back Werribee VFL-listed defender Jack Williams, who won the Hampden club’s top individual accolade in 2015, to replace 2016 winner Daniel Seehusen, who is unavailable the next two weeks.
Camperdown coach Phil Carse was pleased to get a key position backman of Williams’ calibre back ahead of the tough clash at Leura Oval.
“Jack has been a bit unlucky – he hasn’t made the seniors (at Werribee this season) yet, but he has been in the best every single week in the development league,” Carse said.
“He’s playing some good footy.”
Mitch Danahay and Will Rowbottom will go back to the reserves, with Troy McLaughlin earning a senior recall after a best-on-ground performance in the earlier game last week.
Midfielder Cam Spence is set to return from a hamstring injury and play his first game since round two.
“We were conservative with it again (but) he’s been training for the last two-and-a-half to three weeks well,” Carse said.
“In my opinion, he’s one of the best midfielders in the competition when he’s up and going.
“We want him to be there for the long term.”
Port Fairy has made just one change to its side, with Josh Dwyer unavailable with Vic Country under 16 squad training commitments.
Small half-forward/on-baller Jordan Graham has been rewarded for a best-on-ground effort in the reserves last week with a call up for his first senior appearance.
Injuries have again wreaked havoc for Portland, but there is a silver lining with the return of some high-quality talent to the group.
The Tigers expect to be without James Imbi, Jesse Murray and Kyle Anson for two-to-three weeks after all three were struck by hamstring injuries in last week’s gutsy win over Terang Mortlake.
It also looks like season over for Hayden Tefler, who sustained a knee injury, while Harrison Hampshire may miss a week or two with a groin injury.
The Tigers will also be without promising youngster Toby Oakley who, as a 16-year-old, cannot play two senior matches in a row.
But among their seven inclusions are ruckman Ben Malcolm, Daniel Falcone and Matt Kelly, who return from injury, while Rebels pair Tylar Watts and Keegan Gray are also back.
South Warrnambool has recalled Travis Parsons from the reserves, with Josh Saunders (anterior cruciate ligament) the only out ahead of its top-of-the-table clash with Cobden.
Cobden welcomes back Jahd Anderson for the clash, while Paul Pekin is out with a minor knee injury.
Noah Mounsey has been named on an extended bench after the Bombers gave Chris Paatsch (corkie) until Friday to make a call on his fitness.
