She produced her best round of the championship to turn a one-shot advantage at the start of the day into a seven-shot final winning margin.
“The first two holes were quite significant,” Venn said. “I picked up four shots on the first two holes, that was a big help.
“I haven’t started well the last two weeks; this week was a much better start.”
Just three shots separated the three front-runners in Venn, eventual runner-up Judy Carmody and Kate Cornelissen at the start of play after a tight first two weeks of competition.
“There was two of us level after the first week and I was one shot ahead going into today and three shots ahead of the next person,” Venn said on Thursday.
“I had my best round for the championship, so I was very pleased.
“Any club championship you win is just wonderful. It’s a great honour.”
Venn shot 80 off the stick on Thursday, following rounds of 88 and 89 to finish with a score of 257.
Carmody finished on 264 and Cornelissen was third with 268.
Venn said consistency was key to her strong final round.
“I felt like I hit the ball really consistently and my short game was ‘on’ today,” she said.
“So that’s always nice when it happens.
Any club championship you win is just wonderful. It’s a great honour.

“I can probably attribute it to a strong pennant season.”
The ladies’ club championship win was the perfect finale a wonderful week of golf for Venn, who also saluted with the Terang team, which won the orange division of the Western District Golf Association’s women’s handicap pennant.
“I was pleased to hit 80 off the stick (on Thursday) and that just capped off a really good week,” Venn said.
The Terang B grade championship went to 22 holes in a thriller between eventual winner Margie Driscoll and Vicky Philp.
The ladies were locked after nine holes and again at the end of the 18th, needing a further four holes for Driscoll to finally break clear.
Runner-up Philp said it was an exciting finale.
“It was really close. After the first round, I was one or two points ahead and last week she was one point ahead,” Philp said.
“There was absolutely nothing in it the whole time. I could not believe it.”
Jean Lucas backed up last year’s effort by again claiming the C grade championship, with young club member Sarah Venn finishing runner-up.
