His memoirs form part of the daily workshops held at the Warrnambool Art Gallery celebrating this year’s Education Week.
Entitled Belonging and Becoming, the sessions were attended by over 80 students from various Warrnambool primary schools.
During the 90-minute sessions students created paper cloaks modelled on traditional Aboriginal possum skin cloaks.
Mr Lowe said it was important for children to learn Indigenous culture.
“We have to keep telling the stories of this area because they form our history,” he said.
WAG Education Officer Aimee Board said she hoped students learnt the importance of inclusion.
“When we feel connected to our communities and have a sense of belonging, not only are we happy and healthy as individuals but we are also stronger as a community.”
