The Roosters have accumulated a loss, a win and a draw in the opening three weeks of the competition and are preparing to host home-town rivals Old Collegians at 11am on Sunday.
Roosters coach Alicia Drew said after the players were admittedly “unprepared” for all their first clash would entail, they had shown rapid improvement.
“The second week, we taught them a lot more about tackling and … our tackling pressure was really good,” she said. “Then last week, we sort of dropped off again.
“Their skills are improving, but it’s probably the mindset side we need to work on a bit more.”
Drew said her charges were looking forward to taking on another Warrnambool-based team.
“I think they’re quite excited to play a bit of a derby,” she said. “(Old Collegians) beat us in the practice game, so I think we’re looking for bragging rights this weekend.”
