Club manager Karen Van Kempen said she was hopeful the trials, which have nearly 40 horses entered, will be a forerunner for a steeplechase and hurdle race to be programmed for the club’s cup meeting on April 15, 2018.
“It's been eight years since we conducted jumps races,” Van Kempen said. “We had to show we can conduct jumps trials successfully before having them programmed at one of our meetings.
“We've received great response from owners and trainers. The most interesting horse we've got trialling is Bold Sniper. He is trained by David Hayes and is owned by Her Majesty The Queen (Elizabeth II).
“Bold Sniper won his first jumps trial at Sale in impressive fashion and all going well will be entered for a hurdle race in the future.”
The first trial over 2400 metres is due to start at 10am, while Bold Sniper’s trial is listed for an 11am start.
