In response to the Royal Commission into child sexual abuse, Warrnambool community support group Moving Forward is encouraging members of all faiths to take a walk with them.
The St Joseph’s parish on Lava Street is hosting a Labyrinth walk of meditation in the church’s gathering space anytime after Sunday morning mass at 8.30am and evening mass at 6pm.
Moving Forward member Marie Morgan said the group was hoping to engage those in the community who felt let down by church responses.
“We’ve created a labyrinth, an ancient form of meditation and we’re offering support and caring and hopefully healing in terms of faith,” she said.
For Moving Forward member Merran Koren the gathering space will hopefully offer some pain relief for survivors in the region.
“Its a chance for us to acknowledge the pain never goes away,” she said. “But that we are trying to help ease it a little.”
