Creek led by as many as 12 goals in the first half of the game but was forced to withstand an East Warrnambool comeback to claim the four points.
Dean said the victory came as a relief.
“It’s something that the girls have deserved, because they’ve been working so hard,” she said.
“It’s a case of inexperience probably costing us games but we sort of turned a corner a few weeks ago, until we had two byes in a row.
“It’s good for the girls, it’s something they really deserve.”
She said self-belief was an important part of the victory and admitted it was vital for the Kangaroos to remain loyal to their style of play.
“I just told them to play their game and to just be controlled,” Dean said.
“We didn’t want to fall into scrappy play, because that can happen – we just had to back ourselves.
