A WARRNAMBOOL man was refused bail after a police search found a handgun, marijuana and alleged notes of drug transactions at his family home.

Mark Lockwood, 43, of Eccles Street, is facing drug trafficking charges and appeared yesterday in Warrnambool Magistrates Court.
His appearance was followed by his wife Nicole Lockwood, 39, of the same address, who is facing the same charges.
Mr Lockwood’s bail was opposed by police.
Detective Senior Constable Elissa Smith from the Warrnambool criminal investigation unit told the court that police executed a warrant at the Eccles Street home yesterday and found a handgun, 500g of cannabis, digital scales, zip-lock bags, foil and an amount of cash.
She said police also found two mobile phones, one of which had messages relating to trafficking cannabis.
She said there were also notes of cash amounts recorded with people’s names next to them, which were consistent with weights and amounts for drugs.
Detective Senior Constable Smith said Mr Lockwood, who had a criminal history in South Australia and Queensland, was planning to move to Queensland next week with his family.
Defence counsel Matthew Senia said Mr Lockwood’s last prior conviction was in 1994.
He said Mr Lockwood was waiting for money owed from the sale of a tattoo business and pizza shop business before he planned to move to Queensland.
Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt said Mr Lockwood had a strong case to answer given the existence of the scales, zip-lock bags and notations of amounts owed.
He said he was an unacceptable risk to not appear if released on bail.
Mrs Lockwood’s bail was not opposed. The husband and wife will appear again in court on December 18.
