Defenders Rhianne Lewis and Tayarrah Morris set the tone in the 38-27 win over Cobden, earning the praise of coach Kelsey Lewis.
“Our defenders have been working overtime,” she said. “They just played brilliantly; they have the last three weeks.
“They’ve really held us up.
“We’re still trying to work out our attacking end a bit, but I suppose that’ll come over time.”
The Kangaroos are rotating Joanne Bowie, Bec Langley and Teagan McIntosh through the midcourt, while Kelsey (14 goals), Aliesha McDonald (14) and Eve Duckmanton (10) are sharing scoring duties.
The game against Cobden was tight through the first three quarters, before the Kangaroos were able to break the shackles with a big 14-goal-to-five final term.
“We played a brilliant last quarter and in the end that was probably the difference,” Kelsey said.
“Our movement and probably our transition from defence to attack – it was just flowing.”
Meanwhile, Warrnambool moved to the top of the table with a 12-goal win over Portland at Hanlon Park.
The Blues built a handy four-goal lead in the first term and had opened their advantage up to 13 by the main break.
The Tigers were able to keep pace with the Blues in the second half, but were unable to make a serious dent on the deficit, going on to lose 33-45.
Amy Wormald continued her impressive form, dropping in 29 goals, while Lauren Hockley led the way for Portland with 21 goals.
