Portland restaurant Clock By The Bay took out top honours at Friday night’s Glenelg Shire Council Business & Tourism Awards.

The Bentinck Street eatery was named business of the year and also won the tourism – food and beverages category, with judges praising it for taking “fine dining to the next level”.
The employee of the year award went to Rachael Mueller of Bridgewater Bay Café, while Casterton teenager Adam Robertson was named the young achiever of the year for his efforts in producing a book detailing the history of the Casterton Railway Line.
Other award winners included Bruno Body Repairs (manufacturing, trades or construction), Carpet Court (retail or service), Gorae Organics (primary industry), Caltex Portland (innovation), Quality Hotel Bentinck AKA Mac’s Hotel (tourism – accommodation), Seals By The Seal (tourism – event, festival or attraction), Spice Cart Portland (micro business), Portland Workskills Walking Tour (heritage), and Casterton Historical Society (inclusivity).
The awards were presented at the Portland Golf Club in front of a crowd of more than 150 people.
The night also featured a performance by X Factor runner-up Louise Adams, who launched her new music tourism initiative South East x South West, which aims to position the Green Triangle as a musical and artistic hub.
