TOURISTS say they are happy to pay to see the Twelve Apostles on two conditions – a fair price and that the money goes back into maintaining the site.

Despite the wind and rain which greeted German visitor Markus Auge the stunning view was worth paying for.
“I think it’s ok, as long as it’s going towards preservation and not into something else,” he said.
Russian visitors Victoria Bogoslovskaya and Ark Bogoslovskiy said they would be happy to pay to visit the park but it depended on where the money went to.
“I think it depends on where the money is spent,” Mr Bogoslovskiy said.
“If it went into conservation or the facility. As long as it’s a modest and it’s transparent where the money is going.”
Ross Emery, from Auckland, visited the Apostles 40 years ago and said he was surprised that it was free.
“I would pay to see them,” he said.
“I guess it depends on how much. I think it’s fair enough for overseas visitors to make a contribution.
