Club vice-president at the time Bill Toleman said the $90,000 extensions would be built on land the club had been paying rent on for the past six years.
He said the new function rooms on the eastern boundary of the social club would be used to house 30 gaming machines if approved.
“You must have an aim,” he said. “We aim to keep up with the best.”
Mr Toleman said the extension would be funded largely through debentures taken out by club members, who at the time numbered between 550 and 700.
He said voluntary labour would be crucial in completing the project.
