“Sometimes you can play sides the other side of Melbourne … and there’s not a lot of interest (in what a win means), but when you play a neighbouring league, there’s heaps of interest,” he said.
Eales, who is coaching the Mininera representative team for a second year, hopes to repeat the dose after his side triumphed by three goals in last year’s clash between the two leagues.
He said his initial 32-man squad features a health mix of ages and experience levels.
“We’ve got a good range; we’ve got blokes that are in their early 30s down to the odd 16- or 17-year-old … (and they’ve got) different experience levels,” Eales said. “Everyone should learn off each other.”
