Last night that honour was bestowed on Warrnambool’s very own Dave Hughes.
And the question on everybody’s lips today is – did the comedian go too far?
When congratulating Jessica Marais on her nomination for The Wrong Girl, he made reference to Channel Seven’s Tim Worner and his affair with an employee.
“Channel Seven were working on a pilot of The Wrong Girl that was starring their CEO Tim Worner – that was more a reality show and he picked the wrong girl to mess with,” Mr Hughes said.
“I’ve never worked on Channel Seven and I probably never will,” he added.
He also took aim at the Today Show’s Karl Stevanovic and the media’s interest in his life.
“The paparazzi followed Karl to America and that made me angry,” Mr Hughes said.
“I can’t get them to follow me down the street. I can walk down Bourke Street with four hookers and a barrel of drugs and they wouldn’t follow me.”
The hosts of Studio 10 held a segment on Monday morning, posing the question – did Hughes go too far.
Sarah Harris described Hughes’ efforts as “hilarious”.
“I couldn’t stop laughing.”
Denise Drysdale echoed similar sentiments, saying he was “brilliant”.
But Jessica Rowe thought he may have overstepped the line.
“He was a bit mean,” she said.
