The Rebels downed Calder Cannons by 80 points at Rams Arena on Sunday.
Terang Mortlake export Scott Carlin was among the under 18 team’s best, scoring 21 disposals. Cobden’s Trent Reed also accrued 17 touches.
Partington said the representative side had remained calm despite losing its opening three fixtures.
“I think over the last three or four seasons we’ve lost the first few games,” he said.
“The squad doesn’t get going until mid-March so it takes a bit for the boys to gel.
“It takes time to learn the game plan and how Gerard (FitzGerald) would like them to play. They are starting to trust each other.”
Partington ranked the club’s talent pool as promising.
“We’ve got the best kids in the region and we’ve got to teach and guide them to the best of our ability,” he said.
“We want to get the boys in a professional environment so they can improve.”
