Hosted by the Warrnambool Pipe Band, the event includes tuition from experienced international and national instructors. More than 125 people from Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales attended sessions across the three days. World champion Canadian pipe drummer Reid Maxwell came to Australia specifically for the workshop.
“It’s been an amazing weekend,” he said. “It’s very organised. There is an abundance of talent ranging in ages from eight to 60. The students all have a keenness to learn.”
Maxwell will perform with the City of Melbourne band on Tuesday as part of ANZAC Day commemorations.
Warrnambool pipe sergeant and event chairman Tim McLeod said there had been a great response from participants across the weekend.
“Everyone has been very enthusiastic,” he said.
