Gynes will miss the Seahawks’ only double-header of the 2017 Big V season this weekend due to a back complaint.

He’s averaged 27.5 points a game in the undefeated Seahawks’ first four matches.

Alexander is backing his deep roster to fill Gynes’ scoring void.

“We have a lot of talent in our team and I believe all 10 players can step up and score heavily,” he said.

“There is a lot of self-sacrificing in our team because we give to the person shooting a high percentage.

“We go to the well until it dries up.”

Alexander said Gynes’ absence would give other players a chance to play increased minutes.

“It’s a great opportunity for the rest of the guys,” he said.

“I’ve been really impressed with Dom Occhipinti and they way he’s trained and Brock Carter will get more opportunities to get more of the ball.

“James Mitchell is back from injury, so he’ll bolster our team with his experience.”

The Seahawks will regain teenage guard Jay Rantall from Vic Country duties and have enlisted Aidan Kennedy to help run the point.

Alexander said Kennedy deserved a chance after strong performances at training.

The Seahawks host Warrandyte Venom at the Arc on Saturday night and play Bulleen Boomers on the road on Sunday.

The fixture is the defending division one title-holder’s only double-header of the season.

Alexander said the Seahawks had received a friendly fixture.

“It’s early in the season and another great opportunity,” he said.

“We’ve only played four games so we’re feeling fresh and had last weekend off, so it’s a good time to get a double-header.”

Meanwhile, Warrnambool Mermaids will attempt to extend their five-game unbeaten streak.

The Mermaids will host Keysborough Cougars on Saturday night and travel to Melbourne to face Wallan Panthers on Sunday.

The winless Seahawks will play Mornington Breakers in division two youth league action on Saturday night.
