RANK outsider Royal Butterfly is over the odds in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Heath at Caulfield on Saturday, according to Warrnambool trainer Tammy Good.

Early betting markets for the 2000-metre race have rated Royal Butterfly a $100 chance but Good thinks she'll run well.

“We’re having a real throw at the stumps with Royal Butterfly,” she said.

“She's jumping in class but there are no other races around for her over the 2000 metres.

“There's a shortage of fillies and mares races over ground. She's crying out for 2000 metres. Her form in lesser company over shorter distances is encouraging.”

Talented apprentice jockey Jordan Childs will ride the five-year-old mare.

“Jordan has won on her previously. She's drawn barrier one and Jordan should get a good run into the race,” Good said.

Ciaron Maher saddles up the favourite Ruthven the three-year-old for the race. Maher has three other runners at the meeting while Mitch Freedman and Symon Wilde have runners.
