“That was the busiest Easter I’ve seen and that’s also the feedback I’m getting from others,” Port Fairy Business Association president Ken Brookes said.
“It was a little bit like the folk festival it was so busy. It was full on.
“The streets were packed, there were cars everywhere and there were queues.”
Mr Brookes said the bumper summer had continued through to Easter, although the busyness was likely to drop off after the May Races.
“I think Port Fairy is becoming more popular,” he said.
“We’ve had three or four new cafes come on board (over summer) and it’s all helping.
“The fact (new businesses are starting shows) they must have some confidence and recognise the fact Port Fairy is becoming more of a destination.
“It’s been full on since December.”
