Police, CFA and gas workers on site

Emergency crews are responding to a gas leak in Mill Street, Koroit.

The incident was reported at 12.45pm on Saturday and three crews are at the scene.

Koroit police Sergeant Pat Day said the leak occurred when a resident who was using an excavator to remove plants hit a gas pipe.

“He’s hit the feeder pipe into his home which is pumping out copious amounts of gas into the front garden,” he said.

Sergeant Day said Koroit CFA and gas workers were on the scene asked for people to avoid the area until the incident was brought under control
