PORT Fairy’s Bamstone are wild with excitement after winning the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show for a fourth year in a row.

The blustone and granite suppliers took home top honours with their garden entitled ‘I see Wild’.

This year’s winning entry – I see Wild - was created by Philip Withers, with contributions from Indigenous elder Robbie Lowe and the Warrnambool Clontarf Academy.

Melbourne’s Lord Mayor Robert Doyle awarded the Bamstone garden ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Gold Show Garden Award winner’ at the launch of the five-day event this morning. 

Bamstone owner Michael Steel was quick to thank his team. “We are so excited to win four in a row,” he said. “It was so rewarding and inspiring working with Rob Lowe and the Clontarf boys on this project.”

Mr Steel said judges at this year’s event were “transfixed” by the winning garden.

“It really does stand out,” he said. “It’s like looking out your back door and out into the wild.”

The World Heritage listed event is at Melbourne’s Carlton Gardens from March 29 to April 2.
