The Garvoc export was the fourth Australian woman across the line and 77th overall in a race that was dominated by strong Kenya competitors.
Moloney completed the race in 38 minutes and 19 seconds, while fellow Australians Anna Kelly, Gemma Maini and Emily Ryan finished 31st, 56th and 62nd on Sunday (local time).
Winner Irene Chepet Cheptai, from Kenya, crossed the line in 31 minutes and 57 seconds.
For Moloney, it was the latest chapter in a rapid rise in running circles.
The Melbourne-based teacher was the fourth woman across the line in her Melbourne Marathon debut in 2015, and took out the prestigious race last year.
She also won the Australian Cross Country Championships last year.
