A crowd of more than 6000 streamed through the Botanic Road site, enjoying an array of rides, food, live entertainment and fresh produce.
St Joseph’s business manager Cathy Duynhoven confirmed this year’s $49,000 takings is a new record.
“It’s a phenomenal amount,” she said.
“We usually average between $43,000 and $45,000 so this is a huge jump.”
Mrs Duynhoven said the increase can be attributed to a few things.
“We have a few different food stalls this year,” she said. “As well as a revamp of existing ones.”
“We also included our visiting Japanese students from Doshisha Elementary School who held a calligraphy stall and participated in stage performances.”
Sponsorship support, Mrs Duynhoven said, was “better than ever” with over 120 businesses contributing in some way.
St Joseph’s school principal Michael Gray said proceeds from this year’s fair will go toward completing a Memory and Reflection Garden on the school grounds.
“It will be similar to a small ampitheatre with bluestone features,” he said.
The area will include a plaque for each parent or child who died while a member of the school community.
“The area is designed as a place of reflection,” Mr Gray said.
“It will be a special place to remember those we’ve lost.”
