Peter Pedretti, 52, who is living in his car, pleaded guilty in the koori division of the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to recklessly causing injury and causing damage.
Two years ago he pleaded guilty to standing on a small white dog in anger while demanding money from his partner and was fined.
On Friday police said the couple had continued an on-and-off relationship and on August 30 last year hosted a party at her Woodford home.
They argued about the care of his grandson during the evening, she went inside and he approached her, took off a watch that had been a present from her and threw it at her.
The watch caused an injury to her shoulder.
When the party goers left they argued again, she screamed for him to get away and he grabbed her face with his hands, squashing her nose.
She was then dragged by the hair from the room.
When he later returned the woman ran off and told police she had been terrified.
A couple of days later he returned and caused damage to a generator.
In a victim impact statement the woman said it would take a long time for her to heal, that she had been continually lied to and she found it hard to trust people again.
She said she had horrible memories and flashbacks and had been forced to sell her home.
Pedretti is now homeless, sleeps in his car, but is seeking help from support services.
Elder Irene Alberts said she felt the victim's pain and it was never right for a man to attack a woman.
Pedretti told the victim he was sorry for his actions and he wanted to move back to Queensland.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said she could put Pedretti on a 12-month community based order but that would keep him in Victoria for that time.
She decided to adjourned the case for three months to allow Pedretti to seek further assistance from support services.
The magistrate warned Pedretti that if he did not seek counselling and support before the matter was finalised on June 16 he would receive a negative sentencing outcome.
