The dairy co-operative has announced John Spark will take on the role from April 1.
He replaces Philip Tracey, who joined the board in 2009 and has been chairman since 2011.
Mr Spark is a former director of the Ridley Corporation and has served on a number of other high profile boards.
Mr Spark said it was an enormous privilege to be appointed chairman
“It is a true honour to have an opportunity to apply my passion and expertise to the chairmanship of Murray Goulburn,” Mr Spark said.
“As chairman, I look forward to playing a central role at Murray Goulburn and working closely with my fellow directors and chief executive officer, Ari Mervis, to build a stronger company for the future.”
Mr Tracey said he felt the time was right for the leadership transition at Murray Goulburn.
