He finished sixth – four spots ahead of Milburn – in the A-main at Horsham and now trails the leader by just 72 points heading into next Saturday’s grand final at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway.
The finish was an impressive climb from Van Ginneken, who had started the race out of 13th. Earlier in the night, he had finished 3rd (from fourth) and ninth (from seventh) in his heats.
Warrnambool driver Corey McCullagh finished fifth in the feature at Horsham Raceway after starting out of 10th and sits third in the overall series rankings, behind Van Ginneken by 191 points.
