The Pancake Day annual community fundraiser attracted all ages to the event that previews the start of Lent.
Historically the day features in the Christian calendar as a time to rid the home of indulgent foods in preparation of fasting for the period leading up to Easter.
Uniting Care volunteer Heather Baker said the Koroit Street that dates back more than fifteen years, has more than one purpose.
“It’s a time to use up those extra things in the cupboard before Lent,” she said.
“But it’s a community activity as well and a fundraiser for the wider Uniting Church in Victoria.”
Eager patrons were dining on sweet and savoury plate-sized pancakes and free tea and coffee from 5pm until 7pm.
“It’s all hands on deck,” Mrs Baker said. “The hardest thing for us helpers is keeping up with orders.”
