Michael John Smith, 21, of Manifold Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to drink driving, failing to report an accident and driving in a dangerous manner.
Police said that at 7.45pm on November 1 a witness saw a car speeding at about 80 km/h along Curdies Street, Cobden, approaching the intersection with Victoria Street.
The area is a 60km/h zone.
The car spun 180 degrees at the roundabout but then continued east to the IGA supermarket car park where the driver performed two 360 degree donuts.
Smith left the car park and where Silvester Street becomes Walker Street he lost control and his car came to rest against a power pole.
He and two others fled the scene.
Smith was a green P-plater at the time and when police caught up with him soon after the accidents he had an alcohol reading of .087.
Smith told magistrate Michael Coghlan that he had been very stupid, knew he had done the wrong thing and it would not happen again.
