AFL medical director Peter Harcourt will head a seminar-style event this weekend on request of the South West Sports Trainers Association (SWSTA).
SWSTA president Alan Parsons said the main aim of the event was to provide education to people involved in football and sport about the seriousness of head injuries.
“We don’t yet fully understand the long-term impact of concussions and we can often see a player isn’t quite right, as you can when you get to know them,” he said.
“We’ve opened it up to coaches, support staff and anybody who works behind the scenes that would like to come along.”
“We’re trying to look after players’ welfare and wellbeing after their career is finished.”
The event will kick off at 1.30pm at the Flying Horse Bar and Brewery.
