A selection of sporting, parenting, mentoring, disability and musical groups hit the jackpot when Warrnambool’s City Memorial Bowls Club donated $10,000.
The contribution is money raised from the club’s weekly lunchtime Lucky Seven Community Bingo match.
This is the first time in the competition’s eight-year history that proceeds have been shared among nine selected groups.
City Memorial Bowls Club general manager Julie Dosser said she was thrilled to help little-known community groups receive a financial boost to assist their operations.
“We sought applications for sponsorship this year,” she said.
“It’s the first time we’ve done it this way.
“It was rewarding to donate the money, but it was also interesting to learn of these groups and the wonderful things they do for the community.”
