POLICE crime scene officers have examined a car stolen from a Whites Road home in Warrnambool while residents slept.

Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said offenders entered the home through an unlocked front door and took car keys.
The offence happened between 11pm Monday and 7.45am Tuesday and the thieves drove off in a Nissan Dualis.
A backpack containing numerous documents was also removed from the home.
The car was recovered on Tuesday night near South West Credit in Lava Street.
Crime scene officers have examined the vehicle for forensic evidence.
