The top price bull was the 752 kilogram Rossander Emperor K267 (AI) which sold to Wes Erwin from Narweenda Partnership through Elders Mortlake.
The September, 2014 born Rossander Emperor K267’s EBVs included a +3.7 birth weight and and an EMA of +4.6.
It also had an IMF of +2.4 and a scotal value of +1.3.
Volume buyers included return buyers Hallyburton Farms of Jancourt near Cobden who paid up to $5000.
Other volume buyers were D.C & H.M Simpson of Nullawarre and D & L Brown of Koroit.
A portion of the offering was passed in and Landmark auctioneer Andrew Sloane said a possible reason for that was because the weights of some of the bulls were lower than those offered in other auctions during the current bull sale season.
He said any focus on the weights of the bulls on Tuesday ignored the fact that Rossander bulls went on to achieve good weights.
The sale attracted a big crowd and many repeat buyers.
One of the return buyers, Chris Hallyburton of Hallyburton Farms said he liked Rossander bulls because they grew well and could be put to use quickly.
Rossander co-principal Andrew Anderson told the auction crowd that seasonal conditions at the start of last year had been tough but all its bulls had kept on going.
Mr Anderson said all the buyers at Rossander’s 2016 sale had said the bulls they bought had grown well since.
He said Rossander did not grain feed its bulls and only gave them some supplementary feeding and silage.
That approach aimed to show the bulls’ performance in grass-fed conditions.
“What you see in the paddock is what it will be when you get home,” Mr Anderson said.
