Two of the old carriages, believed to be vintage specimens from the 1930s, were used for a number of years by Deakin University to house students at its Country Life residences opposite the Warrnambool campus.
The university decided to sell the carriages to make way for further development.
The carriages – one of them First Class – have been converted for accommodation, complete with electrical wiring and plumbing.
They would make unique bungalows, artist’s studios, hot houses or playrooms – or perhaps they could be the start of a very big train set.
