Council voted to release the revised version of the policy and to consider submissions in relation to the policy at a future meeting.
Director of city infrastructure Scott Cavanagh said the policy was aimed at ensuring council’s purchasing practices were fair and that they delivered the best possible value and outcomes for the community.
“The revised policy is based on nine guiding principles which will underpin council’s purchasing of goods and services,” he said.
“These are ethics, value for money, competition, fairness to suppliers, accountability, risk management, transparency, sustainable procurement and confidentiality.”
Submissions should be marked ‘Procurement Policy Submission’ and mailed to 25 Liebig Street, Warrnambool 3280 or emailed to wbool_city@warrnambool.vic.gov.au
