The United Dairyfarmers of Victoria is to hold an ‘Against the Odds - A Celebration of Resilience of Farmers and the Farming Community’ night on Thursday, March 9 at Deakin University.
The event will present inspirational speakers talking not just about overcoming challenges in the dairy industry but also in life.
They include Bega Cheese chairman Barry Irvine who will talk about how a family member with autism has handled the challenge with family support.
Also speaking will be former Camperdown local Josh Hose, who has won gold medals in wheelchair rugby in the Paralympics and Camperdown dairy farmer and Olympic kayaker Adrian Powell.
The evening will start at 7pm and finger food will be provided. Those wanting to attend should contact Chris O’Keefe on 0428 692416 for catering purposes.
Another forthcoming event to support dairy farmers is the ‘Farmers Day Out’ at the March 2 races at the Terang racecourse on Keilambete Road.
Free buses will take farmers from Warrnambool, Cobden, Camperdown and Mortlake to the races and admission and a barbecue lunch will be free.
The event, organised by the Terang Racing Club, also includes a talk by Midfield Meat chief Colin McKenna.
