The nine-day program averages 50-60 golfers per day, headlined by the Cobden Plate and three-man ambrose on the opening weekend, as well as the ladies’ Cobden Cup team even on Tuesday, February 28.
The men’s and ladies’ 28-hole stroke and ladies’ 18-hole stroke on the second Saturday of the program, March 4, is also set to hold extra intrigue this year.
The club is offering a new $24,500 Kia Cerato if a golfer is able to sink a hole-in-one on the fourth hole during the March 4 event.
Golfers taking part in the 28-hole competition will have two opportunities on the fourth, which is the course’s longest par-three hole at 163 metres.
The course has seen a handful of holes-in-one over the past five years, with one coming on the fourth hole.
Week of Golf committee member Colin Hammond said the club was looking forward to its biggest week-and-a-half on the calendar.
“It’s our biggest week for the year for the Cobden Golf Club,” he said.
“It’s really social and it’s our biggest prizes for the year.
“People come from a far way to play … from Portland right through to Colac and Geelong.
“It’s a pretty big thing for the club to be running for nine-straight days.”
Entries remain open up until the day of the event.
