Scott Hammond, 27, is facing charges of murder, child homicide (unlawful and dangerous act) and child homicide (criminal negligence) over the death of the baby in Colac, it was reported.
Mr Hammond appeared in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon where he was remanded in custody for a committal mention on April 21.
The eight-week-old boy was taken to hospital unconscious in October 2011, but he died eight days later.
On Monday, homicide detectives charged Mr Hammond with the murder of the child.
He made a brief appearance in the Geelong Magistrates Court.
Earlier, Monday: HOMICIDE Squad detectives have charged a man, 27, following the death of an eight-week-old baby in Colac six years ago.
The incident allegedly occurred at Hearn Street on October 15, 2011.
The unconscious child was taken to hospital where he died on October 23.
An Irrewarra man was arrested and charged today with murder, child homicide (unlawful and dangerous act) and child homicide (criminal negligence).
He will appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
