Hamilton police Sergeant Paul Stanhope said the aggravated burglary happened in Milton Street on Saturday night.
"The residents were home and had gone to bed when offenders entered through a back sliding door," he said.
"Two wallets and a mobile phone were just inside the home and were removed from a breakfast bar.
"The residents noticed the items were missing and reported the offence on Sunday morning."
Sergeant Stanhope said police officers were reviewing security camera footage after bank cards stolen in the heist were used.
