Former Warrnambool defender Sam Wilson, Cobden reserves players Harley James and Brad Rees and South Warrnambool’s Leigh McKane have all joined the Heath Moloney-coached Kangaroos for 2017.
“Last year we had a lot of really young guys or some older guys, but we really needed to have those 22-, 23-, 24-year-old bodies just to help our young guys out,” Russells Creek football director Brad Everall said.
“They’ve been fantastic (so far this pre-season) and they’ve done exactly what we needed them to. We needed some guys who have played a good standard of footy.
“It’s a massive boost.”

Wilson, who returned to footy mid-last season after missing nearly a year with an ankle injury, is versatile in defence, while McKane, also a defender, could potentially switch on-ball.
Everall said James and Rees were both fit enough to be earmarked for on-ball/forward roles.
“We’ve got seven or eight new guys in now; we’ve just got to work on being competitive (again),” he said.
