The 15-year-old downed a star-studded field to lift the national crown, posting times which have earned her a place at World Youth A Championships – to be held in Prague – and the Oceania qualifier for the 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina.
The Mercy Regional College student has spent the last two months honing her craft with the Australian Youth Olympics development squad.
Tully’s father, Leon Watt, believed she was internally excited for the opportunity.
“She doesn’t register all that much emotion about it. There is a quiet determination within her, I suppose,” he said.

Watt’s immediate focus will turn to defending her Victorian state title in early April.
She will compete at the Western Australian state titles in May, before heading to Hungary for a training camp prior to the Youth A world titles in Prague.
This will lead into preparation for a Youth Olympics qualifier in Japan.
