Patch Adams, ridden by underrated jockey Jack Hill, defeated Our Lucky Omens and London Fog in the 2000-metre race.
O’Sullivan, who was in Sydney for the middle day of the three-day Inglis Classic yearling sale, shares training duties with his daughter Karina and won the cup previously with Bunchloch and Poise To Win.
“The Colac Cup is always a good race to win,” the respected trainer said.
“Patch Adams has been an unlucky in a lot of his races.
“He's now won three, but with a bit of luck he could have won six or seven races.
“The yearlings at the sale are expensive. We haven't purchased any after two days, but the win of Patch Adams will give us a bit more spending money for Monday’s sale.”
Patch Adams took his stake earnings to more than $175,000 with the victory.
