Top knocks from opener Michael Kostos (48) and Craig Spikin (62) led the way, combining to forge a chunk of the Meerkats 179 runs in the Grassmere Cricket Association. Purnim was bowled out for 133 in its chase on Saturday.
Grassmere captain Chris Lenehan said the club was vying for at least two wins from its final four games as it resumed a title chase.
“We’re going all right. We had a few wins before Christmas but it has been a bit like starting again after Christmas,” he told The Standard.
“Runs win finals. We need to get good scores on the board because if you don’t, you put pressure on yourself to take catches and to bowl tight.” The Meerkats will lock horns with reigning premier Panmure at Rodger Henderson Oval next Saturday.
