“We’re pretty happy with everything (but) we know we need to pretty much win everything from here on out,” Lucas said. “Hopefully (Saturday) was a step on the right path.”
The Pelicans are banging on the door of the top four, behind Heytesbury Rebels on percentage alone.
Simon Baker led from the front at Pomborneit Recreation Reserve, underpinning Bookaar’s 9-206 with 76 runs.
The Pelicans then broke any Pomborneit partnerships before they became too entrenched, dismissing the Bulls for 167 in 46.2 overs.
“In particular, Jeremy Lucas had a good day – I think he bowled his first seven overs for seven runs and took three wickets in between,” Lucas said.
Although he was pleased to see the team to crack the 200-run mark, the stand-in captain was wary of the Bulls batsmen.
“Most times you’d be happy to defend 200, but when you play a side like Pomborneit, with the batsmen they’ve got, you always think, ‘Have we got enough?’,” he said.
Heytesbury Rebels captain Jeff Rosolin made an unbeaten 101 as the Rebels posted a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Noorat, while Terang’s Brandon Bant snared 5-29 as his side defeated Cobden by nine runs.
Meanwhile, Russells Creek and Panmure have advanced to the Sungold Cup T20 semi-finals on Thursday.
