Sprintcar drivers had completed up to the B-Main – which was won by Warrnambool driver James McFadden – when an early end was called to the night.
American drivers were set to feature prominently near the start of the field for the A-main, with past Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic winner Shane Stewart to start from pole, while Carson Macedo was to start from four and reigning Knoxville Nationals champion Jason Johnson was to start from five.
Australian champion and another past Classic winner in Kerry Madsen – who won in 2005, ’07 and ’08 – was to start from second position and Queenslander Robbie Farr was to start from third.
McFadden finished fifth in his first heat, having started from fifth, and finished third in his second after starting from eighth.
Reigning Classic champion Jamie Veal finished third in his first heat, having started in third, and fifth in his second after rising from 10th.
