A century to former Warrnambool opener Lachie Field was among the most impressive performance of the under 16 championship’s third day, while a strong 78 to Woodford talent Tommy Jackson was also influential in the victory.
Russells Creek spinner Dom Bandara capped the eight-wicket victory over Metropolitan North with a six wicket haul.
Western Waves region manager Stephen Field said Jackson’s innings was “breathtaking” but lamented the missed opportunity to snatch a finals berth following defeats on the first two days of play.
“It was a great sign of the team’s character that they were able to perform considering,” he said.
At Bendigo Country Week, Grassmere Cricket Association fell to Castlemaine.
