The last-placed Gold triumphed 81-60 on the back of a large win to Jenny Meade.
Her rink put in a golden performance, defeating Chris McMahon 36-13. Thelma Lackie narrowly went down to Val Mabbitt 22-24, while there was nothing separating the teams in the third rink, with Carrol Cardwell and Wendy Jelbart tying on 23 apiece.
Bev Fleming, who plays second in Cardwell’s rink, said the side was thrilled with the win.
“We’re elated,” she said. “Apart from Jenny Meade’s rink, which had a convincing win, the other two rinks were close all day.”
There were ebbs and flows throughout for Cardwell, who trailed Jelbart until a stirring finale drew the scores. “They got a good lead on us a few times and we managed just to edge our way back into the game,” Fleming said.
