The four friends raised $106.95 for Lifeline during January by painting fingernails and hosting concerts at Southcombe Caravan Park.
Siblings Darcia and Dharma Barker and their friend Edie Scanlon, from Anglesea, joined Port Fairy resident Nina Fitzsimmons in testing their entrepreneurial skills.
“We just asked people if they’d like their nails painted for 10 cents a nail and all the money goes to Lifeline,” 12-year-old Nina said.
The girls also performed mini concerts in the park’s communal areas.
“There are people that I know that have had mental illness and so I wanted to help Lifeline so they could help other people too,” Nina said.
Lifeline Port Fairy volunteer Val Farley said the girls’ generosity renewed her faith in young people.
“They brought money in to me nearly every day,” she said. “It shows that young people are still thoughtful.”
